Juniors information

Welcome to Eastcote Hockey Club Junior section. Hopefully all the information you need is in this section but if not, just visit the Contacts page and contact the Team Admin Person for your age group as they will be happy to help. We hope you have a great season with us and enjoy your hockey.

Training information

After two years of exceptional growth the Junior Section is now larger than ever and provides hockey sessions for 240 youngsters. Eastcote Hockey Club is committed to continually improve the hockey experiences we provide for our young people.

To learn more about our junior training programme, visit the Training page of our website.

Eastcote Development Academy (EDA)

  • The focus for the EDA is hockey fundamentals including receiving skills, passing skills, dribbling skills, shooting skills and defending.
  • The EDA will enter appropriate league/festivals to stretch the players and give them match practice.

Eastcote Performance Pathway (EPP)

  • The focus for the EPP is to develop these players by providing them with a training environment that better reflects the needs of the group. For the U14s, this may include technical and tactical coaching, mentoring, strength & conditioning, performance profiling and psychometric assessments (mental toughness).
  • The EPP will enter appropriate league/festivals to stretch the players and give them match practice.

This is the biggest redevelopment the Junior section has undergone, coupled with the increased demands on the pitch.

We are excited about launching the new structure and believe that it is the right development for our young players and the club. Our coaches have spent a long time considering the groups and the format. We know that change always causes concern, but please, we ask you to support us as we move into this format.

Schedule

Currently we are hoping to restart as detailed below for 2021/22 and are awaiting new guidance from England Hockey. A link to the new table can be found below – please read through it carefully as there are many changes from previous years. The changes allow the section to grow and where appropriate to have more pitch space. Coaching: Starts in mid-September and runs until the end of April, except Christmas, New Year and Easter. Please check your times and venue as this season may see changes.

Kit

Everyone plays with navy shorts or skorts, red shirts and red socks, and occasionally white shirts for away matches when necessary

Please note that you only need to buy the new branded kit when your child has grown out of their existing kit.

To visit the website go to:  Hawkin Sport or via the Club Kit page on our website

Important! When a Junior starts playing in the adult games they need a number for their shirt.  Don’t forget to get or check your shirt number before you order by getting in touch with the relevant key contact below.

Facemasks

The club has published a Policy on the use of facemasks when defending Penalty Corners based on guidelines supplied by England Hockey who strongly recommend that they be worn. Subsequent to this the Management Committee have had detailed discussions about the implementation of the Policy, with particular reference to the position of Junior members. As a result of these discussions, the Policy has been refined and updated, and the revised Policy is set out below.
