Mens 4s beat Newenden Nomads 7-4 in the cup

Confidence was sky high after a great win last week in the league. This week brought a new challenge, first round of the cup against Newenden who were on a 30 match winning run.

Eastcote 4s win 7-4

The game started at a fast pace and was very even for the first 15 mins. Newenden broke the dead lock and went 1-0 up before shortly after making it 2-0.
Eastcote had to regroup and we pushed on to get many short scorers. Another short corner came and from a full hearted effort, Lakshya made it 2-1. Soon after, another short corner was given and a short push out to Andy
meant he had plenty of time to put away the ball from a fine strike. 2-2 at half time.
Second half started and it was end to end. More short corners came for Eastcote and boy, did they take their chance. Short corner was pushed out by Akshay, stopped by Lakshya, Conor dragged the ball left fooling the defender, slipped it right to Lakshya who found Freddie on the P spot. He picked it up on his reverse and made a mockery of the goal keeper, to go round
him at close range making it 3-2.
As the game was drawing to a close, Newenden pulled a goal back to make it 3-3 and sent the game to P flicks.
Eastcote went first and four fine P flicks from Freddie, Conor, Richard and Monty meant no slip ups from Newenden and the P flicks ended with a 4-1 win for Eastcote.
A round 2 draw now awaits on who we will play on the 17th of December. It could be a close fixture against Surbiton or a plane to Newcastle. Exciting times for the team and a new challenge awaits which we will all be ready for.
